Cloakroom Bathroom Conversion in Christchurch

A beautiful cloakroom makeover in Christchurch — a sage green vanity unit, hand-made effect subway tiles, herringbone floor tiles, and thoughtful finishing touches that turn a compact space into one of the most talked-about rooms in the house.

About this project

Cloakrooms are small spaces, but they make a big first impression. This Christchurch client had a functional downstairs toilet that felt tired and unloved — mismatched fittings, plain white walls, and a floor that had seen better days. They wanted something with personality, colour, and a quality finish that would impress guests without breaking the bank.

We started with a clean strip-out and then built the design outwards from the vanity unit — that distinctive sage green was the client's choice, and it drives everything else in the room. We sourced a wall-hung unit to maximise the sense of floor space, and paired it with a simple ceramic basin that keeps the eye clean and uncluttered.

The blue subway tiles — laid in a classic brick pattern — add depth and character behind the basin, while the grey porcelain floor tiles in a herringbone layout add visual interest underfoot without competing with the wall treatment. Small details make a big difference in a cloakroom: the chrome accessories, the soft-close seat, and the mould-resistant grout that keeps everything looking sharp for longer.

The whole project was completed in two days — minimal disruption for the household, and a transformation the homeowners were absolutely delighted with.
