Luxury Terrazzo Bathroom Built From Scratch in Charminster, Bournemouth

This Charminster homeowner wanted to add a bathroom to their first floor — turning a spare bedroom into a proper luxury bathroom that would genuinely add value to the property. There was nothing to work with: no existing plumbing, no drainage routes, no electrical provision. We started from a completely blank canvas.

The first stage was structural and mechanical — forming the new room layout, routing all new supply and waste pipework, and laying the groundwork for the electrical fit-out. Getting this right before any finish work begins is everything; it's the hidden work that separates a bathroom that lasts from one that causes problems down the line.

Once the shell was ready, the design came to life. The terrazzo-effect wall tiles — white with multicolour flecks — set the tone immediately. Bold, tactile, and genuinely unique, they work perfectly against the brushed brass accessories that run throughout the room: the rainfall shower head, thermostatic valve and handset, recessed niche shelf, dual-flush plate, basin tap, towel rail, and the fine trim detail framing the vanity tile panel.

The walk-in shower area is enclosed with a reeded glass screen in a brushed brass frame — a practical choice that adds texture and softness while keeping the room feeling open. Inside the shower, floor-to-ceiling terrazzo tiles and a ceiling-mounted rainfall head create a genuinely spa-like experience.

The navy blue ribbed vanity unit is the room's centrepiece — a rich, confident colour choice that anchors the design and contrasts beautifully with the terrazzo. Above it, a round LED backlit mirror provides perfect light. Oak-effect LVT flooring, a wall-hung WC, and recessed downlights complete the space. Every detail considered, every finish consistent.
